Us too

My first impression on reading this story was, "cool idea."

My second impression was, we need something like that here. Instead of water pumps, can't we hook up a few kids directly to a generator? Slap a few ads on the kids to generate some revenue, just for the heck of it, and send them out to play.

I think this idea has potential. Cheap, renewable energy and maybe a solution to the childhood obesity problem to boot.

I like it.

Wait a minute...it has been almost a year since I took Labor law, but isn't child labor illegal??? It's one thing to make a child go out and play, but if you profit from it then that could be a no-no.

I wondered if someone would notice that minor detail, but I think it's just a matter of how you characterize what the little tykes are doing. They're not working really. They're just playing. Come on!

In today's child environment, going outside probably is considered work if the tyke would rather stay inside and play XBox360 or Wii. If you have to make the kid go outside then it just might be considered work...but that's ok if you want to move forward. I need experience!!! :)
